Q & A

Why hire professional wedding photographers?

We are sure that you have a dozen friends with decent cameras, but great wedding photography is the result of so much more than that. Full-time photography professionals like Cliff Spicer and his associate Lisa apply years of experience and knowledge towards every stage of the photography process to ensure you will love the results of your wedding images. From knowing where to be to get that amazing shot; all the way to the extreme care in storing and backing up your precious images.

Is it important to like your photographers?

Most Definitely. Although it is just as important to find a photographer that is good at what they do, when you can feel comfortable smiling and laughing with your photographer, it will bring out your expressions that are most natural and make for a more enjoyable experience throughout your day.

Who will be shooting our wedding?

Cliff shoots every wedding along with his associate Lisa. Two professional photographers with their own creative styles that blend together wonderfully to create the fantastic results you see on their website and in the albums you can view in their studio. We believe the best results come from a small boutique studio with the photographers being a part of the process from beginning to end.

What photographic equipment will you bring to our wedding?

Cliff shoots with professional Canon SLR’s, and professional Canon “L” series lenses for ultimate image quality. Lisa shoots with professional Nikon SLR’s and top of the line Nikon Lenses. Both Cliff and Lisa bring duplicates of their equipment to ensure equipment failure is not an issue. Various lighting equipment is always on hand for large group shots, indoor photography and for creative effects.

Can you describe your style of shooting during a wedding day?

During most of the day we consider ourselves photojournalists. We are there to capture the details and great expressions throughout your day. We are not there to conduct your day. When the time comes for capturing creative portraits we then become very involved with lighting techniques and using the environment around us to create a scene while encourage you to relax and enjoy each other as newlyweds within that scene. Keep in mind that you have a great influence on the final style of your images when you are selecting your venue, portrait locations, the colours of your flowers and other details that will become a part of every scene.

Can you help us understand the timing of our wedding day better?

Yes. Your wedding photography should fit around the way you want to spend the day, but you do need to allow enough time for us to take the images you want.  If family portraits are important to you and you have a large family, you will need to allow for more time for this. If you have sunset images in mind, then timing some images to happen about an hour before the sun sets would be ideal. Once we understand your photography needs we can guide you better with the timing of your day.

What will you wear to our wedding?

Black or Grey business attire is our dress code.

Should we offer a meal to photographers?

A meal for us is not mandatory but greatly appreciated after a full day of working with you. Some venues set a table aside for vendors but some couples like to have us seated reasonably close to the main table so it is easy for us to capture the great moments or speeches that often happen during dinner. Cliff and Lisa are both Vegetarians.

How many images will we receive?

Every wedding is unique and some weddings lend themselves to more photographic situations. If we spend less time driving, we usually spend more time shooting. We also take care in removing the duplicates in a sequence or images that may have caught someone blinking so you are left with the best images from your wedding. On average you will receive 100 images for every hour that we are shooting.  These high-resolution images will be given to you on a DVD.

When do we get to see our wedding images?

We will feature some highlights of your wedding day on our blog within a week of your wedding. Your final selection of proofs will be available within 4 weeks from your wedding day. We take the time to edit, colour correct and apply subtle, creative retouching. This can take some time to do.

What are we able to do with the high-resolution images given to us?

Our Contract allows you to print or copy these digital images for unlimited personal use. You may not use these images in any professional manner. If you wish to submit images to any magazine, blog or forum of any kind, including social media pages, you must obtain written permission from us and we strongly encourage you to work with us on the selection and retouching process in order for us to allow the usage.

Are you able to travel to international destinations to photograph our wedding?

We are happy to travel across Canada as well as to international locations for your wedding. Both Cliff and Lisa have a great interest and experience with travelling and shooting around the world. Please feel free to book an appointment with us to discuss your options.

Can you supply Thank You cards?

Yes, you can select an image from your wedding day, which will then be printed onto a card to send to all your guests. They are unique and individual to you and always receive a good response from recipients. These are printed in batches of 25 and include envelopes.

Why should we consider an engagement photography session?

There are many great uses for your engagement images. Some couples like to use their favourite image to accompany their engagement announcement; others like to display a large print at the wedding reception or add them to a slideshow presentation. We offer a special guest sign-in album that contains images from you engagement session. The enjoyment of shooting the engagement session comes with getting to know each other and discovering what your personal photography style is.

How involved will we be in creating our album?

The album layout design process can be overwhelming for some couples and others really want to take control but are not sure of how to do this. What we suggest is that you choose your top 5 -10 photographs you feel should be in the album. From this point Lisa creates the album design using complimentary images that will become the album you will cherish for years to come.

How does your payment process work?

The payment process is divided into thirds…..
