Only two more weddings and they are all up

January 24th, 2008

Feels great to have 35 new featured weddings done and I am only two more weddings from having all of 2007 weddings up. Dan and Rachael’s wedding on New Years eve will have the post production work done next week and then only Lyndsey and Greg’s wedding in Mexico and it is done. I am so proud of each of these weddings and I will be working on a best of 2007 slide show so stay tuned. I also want to give a really big thank you to Lisa my assistant who spent 3 days preparing all the files for the update. Without her this place as well as me would fall apart.

Please feel free to comment on any wedding.

January 23rd, 2008

I can not believe how great it feels to get the work up. I am so proud of every wedding I shoot and I love showing others my work. So you can imagine when I was so busy how I felt guilty not getting my work out there but here it is now and I hope you love it as much as I love shooting these events. I am also open to any ideas how to improve my site as I want it to be the best photographers site on the net showcasing some great work and being inspirational and easy to get around , . Please post your feedback as I can take the good with the bad. It is a learning experience.

christmas card finally done

November 29th, 2007

Every year I shoot a personal Christmas card using my kids and I had some trouble coming up with an idea this year. With a one year old and a 9 year old getting them in the same shot with a theme can be tricky. We always joke and call Gavin bruiser because he is so rough with things and I got the idea of him pulling down the tree while Owen gives a look of “I can’t believe this is happening”. I have finally finished the photos and the Photoshop work and I am really happy with it. Now to get the envelopes addressed and the cards dropped in the mail. At least I am ahead of the game this year.

fastest talker in Canada

November 20th, 2007

This was a fun job I had today. There was a contest run by Expedia looking for the fastest talker in Canada. The photo below is the winner who is a construction worker from BC and he won a trip for him and 5 of his friends to Vegas for a week. SWEET.

Kooza Halloween

October 31st, 2007

After seeing the Cirque du Soleil show Kooza Owen has been inspired to create a Halloween costume of the main character of the show “The Trickster”. He was so into his costume this year he really took on an actor like quality once done up in the makeup and suit. It was so awesome to see him and I was so happy he was creative with his costume and didn’t want to just buy it. These are the small things that make a parent proud.

organized or OCD ?

October 29th, 2007

I wanted to share this photo that I thought was kind of funny. I consider myself a pretty well organized guy with some room for improvements but I have now seen an organized Minister who has shown me a whole new meaning to keeping things under control. Check out this photo and let me know if this guy is really organized or has OCD. I know the wedding party were stressing out trying to remember what colour they were. I think I may be jealous of this guy.

Gavin Turns 1

What an awesome day at the Spicer household. Gavin turned 1 and what would a birthday party be without cake.

The Real Deal - Michelle and Andy

October 22nd, 2007

I had the most amazing shoot today. Michelle (a friend of mine) had called me up and asked me a few months back if I could shoot some photos of her and her boyfriend Andy because all they had were some snapshots of the two of them together. I told her for sure, but twice we setup the shoot and something came up and it got cancelled. It rained one day and the next time we set it up was the hottest and most humid day of the year. We all agreed no one would be looking their best in those conditions so we left it and agreed we would shoot in the fall. The date and time were set a few weeks back for today. This morning I received a call from Andy who I had heard lots about but never met. He told me he was going to propose to Michelle at our shoot and wanted my help to pull it off. We agreed it would be best to leave this moment until the end of our shoot so Michelle could first focus on our session and keep her makeup fresh. So the shoot was moving along nicely and Andy and I never mentioned a word or shared a glance at each other so that we wouldn’t give anything away. I told them at the end of our shoot I wanted to have a little fun if they were up for it and they both said they were. I went back into position, made sure my camera was ready and told Michelle a fun photo may be with Andy down on one knee as though he was going to propose to her. This was his cue and he pulled the ring out of his pocket and placed in on her finger. The photos are the real deal of their engagement. I will always remember this shoot. Capturing this type of raw emotion is what has and still does draw me to photography. I wish them nothing but happiness and feel privileged to have been included in such a great moment in their lives.

Charlotte and David

October 20th, 2007

Here are a few from Charlotte and David’s wedding. It was a rainy cold day and we didn’t shoot outside but nothing could stop these guys from having a great time.
