This was a fun job I had today. There was a contest run by Expedia looking for the fastest talker in Canada. The photo below is the winner who is a construction worker from BC and he won a trip for him and 5 of his friends to Vegas for a week. SWEET.

I was shooting Donald Trump last week for the PR firm that represents him and his building in Toronto. Since I was shooting for Trump I had open access to him and I was surprised how nice he was to everyone around him. I know his show is just that, but I expected him to be a little rough, but came away thinking he was a decent guy that day. As well, I just read he is worth 2.9 Billion. I feel so old because I remember clearly him either bankrupt or in real financial trouble.

I was shooting for CP today at the CN Tower and it was Cirque du Soleil trying for a Guinness World Record for contortionists performing a the highest elevation. This job was really cool because before I knew I was shooting it Angela and I bought tickets for Owen’s birthday to see Kooza on Saturday. We are looking forward to it and hope this image appears in many papers to give these guys lots of publicity so they can keep creating more amazing shows.

Here are a few images I shot of Master Chief for the PR company who represents Xbox. These images are being used for requests by the media for photos to go with the stories they write about the new Halo game. Had I been a few years younger I may have had a shot at figuring these games out but I have never made it past level 3 of asteroids. But my nephew Blair is about the best I have seen at FPS games. Maybe I can get him to write a review on my blog about Halo3 as the PR company was kind enough to send him a copy and he is jazzed about this one.

I wanted to share with you a cover photo I did for The Retail Council of Canada’s trade magazine. The story is about Sue and Steve of Danier Leather who work on the lost prevention team. These guys have a great success rate at making sure the merchandise doesn’t go missing and some of the security features are very high tech and cool. I would share them with you but they may be ticked off at me if I blog about how they stop stuff from walking out their stores.

I shoot a lot of news work and as some of you know there is “Arnold mania” in Toronto right now. I shot Arnold at the LCBO as he was tasting and talking about California wines for 5 min. I don’t think there is anything special about these photos but the absolute craziness over celebrities baffles me. I was talking to my assistant Lisa and today and told her I think the Canadian government needs to hire American celebrities to represent the various CDN political offices. We can tell these celebrities what to say and people seem to like to listen to them and the press show up in droves to get their messages out. Maybe we could get Adam Sandler as our Mister of education and dress him like Billy Madason and Pam Anderson could be our Minister of health and show the great work she has had done by CDN doctors. Hmmmm. Any thoughts on this one?

I wanted to share with you a few corporate images I shot in the last 2 weeks. The first one is of a $15,000 drink you can order for that special someone at the 4 Seasons Hotel. The second image is a photo of Duff the host of Ace of Cakes and Brendan Bell of the Leafs working on a puck cake. Finally the image of the girl sitting on the chefs lap is for a St. Patrick’s day story for CP. Enjoy the photos and I will keep them coming.

When I tell wedding clients and Studios that I shoot corporate and news photography during the week they often ask what sort of things I shoot. Since my web site is primarily for my wedding business I don’t update the corporate side often enough but I wanted share with you some of the images from this weeks corporate shoots to give you a flavour of what I do. Since the Aids conference is on in Toronto this year I have been assigned to shoot some of that and the photos below are from a rally held around the MTTC. The hockey images are for Kraft foods and the job was to shoot the winner of a contest with Mike Peca a new Leaf who skated with the contest winner and 14 of his friends. These images will be used for Kraft’s public relations purposes. Tomorrow I am finishing off a large project for Meloche Monnex. The job is to shoot environmental portraits of a couple of hundred employees. The portraits will be used for a large appreciation dinner at the Winter Garden theater in the fall.

I shoot a lot of corporate photography and much of it is event based such as press conferences but I really enjoy getting a shoot where I can take my lights and create an image I think will work. This photo was shot for the next annual report for ALS Canada and it was done in a very small boardroom but I was really happy with the results and think the photo works with the brown tone and slight blur to the edges.
